The Cape Breton Jewish Community got together at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital in Sydney on Sunday, March 30th to say "so long" to life-long Sydney resident Sam Mendleson, who is moving to new accommodations at Northwood Manor in Halifax. Sam, who is 91, has been a pillar of the Jewish Community in Sydney and has assisted his congregation in innumerable ways over the decades. Temple Sons of Israel vice=president Dr. Garson Lecker brought greetings from the shul and best wishes from members of his widespread family of nieces and nephews were read to those in attendance. In addition, Sam was presented with certificates of appreciation from Premier Rodney MacDonald of Nova Scotia and Lieutenant-Governor Mayann Francis.    |
